Eaton 14′ Race Team
Monday, May 26th, 2008
Mike Eaton hanging out with his 14′ race team after the Loop race in Coronado. The Loop race is considered one of the first serious races of the season. It attracts paddlers from all over California as well as some international competitors. The course starts out in the ocean heading north west and 3miles later you enter the San Diego bay heading east with the swell and the tidal push then it circles all the way around to Glorietta Bay which is the bay side of where you started, just over 11 miles. (link to the course map) http://www.eatonsurf.com/LoopMap . Some of the fastest racers in California come out to check their early season training against past times and the current field of competitors. Top three finishers in the 14′ class, photo above left to right, Tommy Coon (3rd), Mike Eaton, Tom Duryea (2nd), and Jay Scheckman (1st). This is a popular class this year and the competition is there, so go check it out, maybe 14′ is for you.

Mike Eaton’s going away party
Friday, May 23rd, 2008
For those of you that were at the party at Good Time CharlieÂ’s last night thanks for coming out, it was a night to remember. Mike was really glad to see everyone and appreciative to everyone for coming out. This photo of him and Jamie Barger (another Kapuna and the trophy builder) says it all, look at that smile!!! He is showing off his going away gift from the paddling community. A hand crafted walnut replica of a flat water Eaton unlimited with mother of pearl Eaton inlay. The engraving read on three lines Mike Eaton, paddler, craftsman, friend, mahalo. We’ll miss him but now we all have a friend in the islands.Â
First Hollow Board Ready!

“I’ve been paddling recreationally/semi competitively since 1997 when I purchased a 19’ Eaton. Since that time, I’ve owned a number of different unlimited boards. It was not until April 2008 that I found out what I was missing. The 12’ stock board I got from the guys at NCP is unreal. The board is fast, maneuverable and an absolute blast in the bump. Screw glassy conditions – I want cresting whitecaps. I’m sold. Thanks guys for a great board.”
